Iron, villagers, and the jungle

So yeah, I have not really had anything to write about on my blog here in the past days or so. I have been very busy taking care of more important stuff than to play Minecraft, so my progress has been halted pretty much completely over the course of the past few days. I have however still left my game running, so I have been able to grind a lot of iron and gold, which is very good, considering the fact that I am planning some major expansions to my jungle biome over the next weeks. I have previously written about my plans to completely terraform and change a portion of my jungle biome, and I still very determined to carry out this project, so at the moment I am in the planning phases. My first priority would be to get a proper transportation network internally in the jungle biome, sorted out. I am primarily thinking about carving the minecart rails into the mountain, trying to leave as much of the biome as possible untouched. I have built a couple of projects like this in the past, and it is very fun to just try to make the railways fit into the naturally generated landscape. The clue is to avoid too many drastic changes in the landscape, and keep the railway clinging to the wall of the mountains, with bridges in between only where it is absolutely necessary. It will be fun, but for now, I am stuck just getting all my resources sorted out, because just the tracks alone will consume a huge amount of resources, especially cobblestone.

I have not been able to take any screenshots yet because at the moment, this project is only in the very earliest of planning phases. I am hoping to get a prototype of the railways done over the next days, so that I will have something to showcase here. Until than though, this is my current situation. Its not how I hoped my world would turn out, because I was hoping I would be able to maintain my trend of posting every single day, but avast, that's just how it goes when life gives you a slap in the face. I am not gonna go too much into detail as to what has happened that has prevented me from playing, so do not bother to ask. But I am back now, and hopefully I will be able to keep up to my schedule over the next couple of days.

EXP farming again

Yeah the title says it all. I have been busy today doing other things than Minecraft, and thus no real progress has been made today. I was still able to farm for some EXP I need to repair my tools later on though, so the day was not entirely wasted in Minecraft. Plus, I got to farm some much needed iron as well, so I am still very happy with how the day turned out for me.

My first priority in terms of repairs, will be my diamond shovel. The shovel I have been using for the past days proved to be worn out entirely beyond repair, so I ended up reclaiming one of my older shovels from way back in the day of Minecraft 1.11. It works perfectly fine, but I still need to make those repairs on my gear. So there will probably be more EXP farming for me tomorrow, if I get the time to spare to play Minecraft.

ARCHIVED POST: Expanding my tree farm and my current progress

NOTE: THIS POST IS ARCHIVED, AND THE INFORMATION SHOWN HERE IS THUS OUTDATED. THIS POST IS MEANT ONLY FOR INFORMATIVE AND REFERENTIAL PURPOSES, AND SHOULD THUS NOT BE TAKEN AS RELIABLE.

Okay, so I know that in my previous post I said I was gonna continue my progress on my new city/village. It appears that I may have chewed over more than I can swallow. I made a quick calculation on just how much wood I will need just to finish my new observatory deck. I am not sure exactly what the final amount will be, but with my current plans, and with my current estimates, the figures indicates a full inventory of birch wood just to get the facade finished. And this estimation does not even include the wood I will need to build the actual observatory on the top of my tower, which will be around 50blocks tall; the tallest observatory deck in my entire survival world. Never have I ever constructed such a large scale observatory. I am planning on making it be pretty big, on top of my current tower. At the moment, all I have is a stone skeleton, which shows where my observatory will be built. But thanks to the insane demand for wood I know I will experience for the observation deck, and probably also for future projects related to my city, I quickly realized that if I am to have any hopes of completing the darn thing, I have to make some drastic changes to my primary base. Now, anyone who have followed me on G+ should know that my tree farm has remained virtually unchanged for over a year now. Originally, when I launched my world for the first time, I constructed a small 40*40blocks tree farm, meant as a temporary solution until I found a suitable area to build a major one. As much as I have a giant tree farm both within walking distance from my primary base, and 10minutes away by minecart, it will be too ineffective to shunt the wood from point A to point B. Especially if I am to use my biggest tree farm. My oldest tree farm, the one I use the most, is already being used to the absolute maximum of capacity it can spare. I have even chosen to cultivate half the farm in a dense grid of trees, only 1block apart from one another. So the obvious solution, is to expand my tree farm outwards.

The current expansion I am working on is being built on the opposite side of my existing tree farm, reach out towards my old spawn tower.

ARCHIVED POST: Experimenting with house designs

NOTE: THIS POST IS ARCHIVED, AND THE INFORMATION SHOWN HERE IS THUS OUTDATED. THIS POST IS MEANT ONLY FOR INFORMATIVE AND REFERENTIAL PURPOSES, AND SHOULD THUS NOT BE TAKEN AS RELIABLE.

So after all that work on my walkways yesterday, I decided I would need a break from the monotonous work, step back a few steps, and just take the time to do what I love the most in Minecraft. That being, just building something simple, and than just take it as it comes as far as designs goes. I am very simple in my building style though, so it won`t get too complicated. But that`s how I like it. Simple, yet different.

Although my current progress here may not seem like too much at the moment, this is just my first design, where I have been practicing myself on a new building technique for designing houses in a new pattern. Basically what I am doing, is I am building the house in cubes. That being, the house is made up of 3*3cubes, which I will than expand upon. Turned out pretty good for a first time in a very long while if I may say so myself. My ultimate plan though, is to build a village, and maybe build a wall around it.

ARCHIVED POST: An update as to the inactivity on my blog

NOTE: THIS POST IS AN ARCHIVED POST. THE INFORMATION SHOWN HERE IS THUS OUTDATED AND SHOULD BE TAKEN AS RELIABLE. THE POST WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN IN LATE 2016, BUT NEVER PUBLISHED.

Hi everyone! And sorry for the recent inactivity on my blog! Been busy with things in my daily life so my blog was unfortunately left behind in the dark for some time while I had to take care of my personal life. I will try to maintain a decent activity level now, but I cannot guarantee anything as there are a lot of things I need to fix and do in the near future

Storage facility nearing completion

So I was finally able to sit down and make a lot of progress in my survival world today. Pumped about 2hours into the game today, and the results are looking quite good actually. I was able to fully finish the walls of the facility, with the exception of one side where I need to add lights, and I also got the roof finished. So yeah, quite a lot of progress done today, and I am quite satisfied with it. The next stage though will be to fill up the facility with chests, as well as adding glass to the underside of my roof. I am planning for an attic in the facility, which includes a glass flooring covering the underside of the roof's overhang. I think it will look pretty nice when I am done with it, but for now, I will have a break until tomorrow before I continue working on my facility. Upon its completion, I will begin filling it up with materials, in particular, lots and lots of sugar canes and wheat.

The roof finished

All floors finished, and looking down towards ground level from the top floor

I will post more updates as I make more progress tomorrow.

Road progress

Hi everyone!

So for today, I chose to focus my time on expanding my road network, connecting my new storage facility to my road network. I have been busy today, having attended a concert, and thus I was not able to make much more progress than that on my survival world. But it turned out pretty good nevertheless if I may add so, so I am very satisfied with the progress I have made today.

Not the longest post I have ever written, but this is where I am at the moment.

There be lights!

Hi everyone

So for today, I chose to keep up my careful warming up by keeping my pace slower than what I have done in the past. As such, there have not been as much progress I would have preferred there to be. But avast, some progress is better than nothing. My primary focus today, have been farming more birch wood which I will need for future expansion, and adding lights to my new storage facility over at my village. It's starting to look pretty good already, but I still got a lot to do before it will be done, and at my current pace this can take some time. But I am getting there, eventually. Just need to take it slowly, so as not to burn myself completely out like I have done in the past.

Looking at the lights I have been adding to my storage facility that I am building at the moment. The building will have lights like this all the way around. It's nothing complicated, but it will do. I might add banners to the glowstones, but this will be determined on a later date

So yeah, not much to write home about. I will update when I have made more progress, which will hopefully be more extensive than today. For tomorrow though I am planning to attend a concert in downtown, so I will probably not make much more progress tomorrow either.

The lost screenshot, first death after gods knows how long, and exceptionally boring grinding

Hi everyone

Now those of you who read yesterday's post, may remember that for some extraordinary reason, I managed to forget to include a screenshot of my most recent build. Yeah, that happens, I forget to do things from time to time. But I went back to the build, and took a couple of screenshots, and will include one in this post to show the progress I have made on the build so far. As far as the progress of today, there are not really much to report on. Just a few cosmetic changes, mainly adding a few trees here and there to make my new build feel more greenish, and fixing some issues I have faced with my old builds due to blocks just disappearing, primarily due to complications with the most recent releases of Minecraft. I have also added a few more vines to my new observation deck, and will see how they develop over night now, if they have any decorative value. Speaking of which, I will spend the upcoming hour and probably much of tomorrow just sitting around, waiting for the vines to grow. I want them to reach ground level from my observation deck, which can take some time. But it will happen eventually, and in the meantime, I will just have to wait, and continue construction around my observatory.

And like the title says, I died in Minecraft for the first time in gods knows how long. Which is a real shame, because I had saved up 35LVLs of EXP, and was about to repair my tools. Oh well, will just have to start over with my EXP at 0.

I will update when I make more progress.

As promised, here is the screenshot of my new build. This thing will primarily consist of a new, minor storage facility, as well as a crafting room, and a living quarters

Back in the game

So yeah, I have finally launched the game for the first time in nearly two months. There are a lot of work I have missed out on over the course of the past two months, so I got much to do to reclaim my lost progress. But because this is my first day in the game for a very long time, I decided to just chill and relax. I have not made much progress today as a result of this, but it's something, so I am happy with my progress. After much consideration, I chose to ignore the fact that my observation deck is not finished yet, and just commence construction of the first building in my new village. The first building would, like I always start my bigger projects, be a storage and crafting facility. It's not the biggest thing to write home about, but it will do for now until I bother myself to build a proper facility. In addition to this, I expanded upon and finished the electricity network and lighting on the right side of my new walkway which leads up to the new observation deck. It turned out pretty well, but now I need to finish the left side, as well as equipping lights to a sideroad, but that's work for some other time.

For some strange reason I forgot to take a close up shot of the new storage facility, but I have an overview shot in which the storage facility is visible in the distance.

Looking over the electricity and lighting network I have added to my walkway

Looking down towards my observatory and the new storage facility. The new storage facility is visible in the middle of the screenshot, but can be difficult to see because of all the other buildings surrounding it. More detailed screenshots will follow on a later date

I will update when I have made more progress

Back from the dead

So yeah, I have most definitively not been all that active with my blog in the recent two months. I have been mainly focusing my attention on my school work, and also I have been taking a break from the game in favor of playing a load of GTA Online. 4weeks of constant GTA grinding can become too much for even the most sane person though, so as of today I am officially moving back to playing Minecraft again. I have a whole load of work to reclaim which have been lost over the 2months of inactivity I have been experiencing now. I am not sure which exact project I will resume, but I will probably spend tomorrow trawling my way through my world and planning a plan of approach. I still got left to finishing my new observation deck before I can commence work on my new village, so there are much to be done to say the least.

Oh and yeah, the snapshots for 1.13 are out, so it shall be fun to play around in the oceans. I just hope the update covers existing oceans, and not just new ones, because it would be a real disappointment if my already existing oceans are to be permanently barren from all life.

I will update when I have decided what I wanna focus my attention at for the upcoming few days.
