Something I forgot to include in my previous post

In my hurry to post, I forgot to include this screenshot of my current progress of my newest observatory deck. Notice how I have partially covered its roof in glass, but have been forced to stop due to my lack of glass. I am currently working on solving my glass shortage, but until I can do so, this project is halted.

Change of plans. Maybe.

Hi everyone!

So a few hours ago, I happened to travel on my transportation system while aimlessly transporting resources to and from my different builds. I've been working on my walkways, adding the first electric lighting to the walkways leading up to where my village will one day come. As a result of my hunger for more wood, I ended up taking a trip to my jungle biome in order to gather some jungle wood for my walkways. On my way there, I happened to take a look around, and noticed that my jungle ain't exactly the kind of jungle I would expect to stumble upon in the wild in the real world. It is pretty basic. Sure, it looks good, but I do not think it looks quite as lush and green as a real jungle would look. If you have ever watched an episode of Survive This, you would have noticed that in real jungles, you can rarely ever see stone and rocks because of how overgrown the jungles are. Neither can you find larger patches of mountainsides; the jungle's growth simply consumes everything in their way. While I cannot twig the Minecraft coding into generating a much more dense jungle at the moment, I am however quite able to manipulate the land around me. So this is what I might just do before moving on with my progress over at my primary base. I have already added quite alot of vines to the jungle immediately surrounding my transportation line, and will wait until tomorrow to see just how it develops. Only than will I be able to make a decision on whether or not I want to actually commence on this optional project. My experimental vine growth though looks pretty good to say the least, and I will at the very least enhance the jungle around my two tunnels that marks the end of my transportation network at the moment.

So that's another project I am planning to undertake. I am not sure whether or not I really wanna do this, because it involves building a new observatory far away from my primary base, right out in the middle of nowhere, which means I will need more glass, a resource I am already dangerously low on. A solution must be made for this if I am to undertake this. A secondary plan is to just forget about the observatory, and simply go for enhancing the jungle surrounding my transportation network. A third plan is to just forget all about this, and simply stick to my current plan with expanding upon my walkways over at my future village, and also smelt some sand so that I can get the glass needed to complete my newest observatory.

I will update as I move along, but this is where I am standing at the moment.

Looking towards a mountaintop which will be suitable for an option observatory should I choose to enhance this section of land

View over the jungle that would be enhanced if I choose to stick with this plan. Notice the old transportation network at the left side of the screenshot, and my new one on the right side

Experimental vines I have planted today. I will let these grow, and from the result of this I will make a decision on whether or not I wanna commence enhancing my jungle biome
A bunch of experimental vines I prepared earlier today for an early view of how an enhanced version of this jungle would look like. Notice all the vines, and how they enhance the feeling of being in a jungle where there's lots of life and growth

Looking towards the tunnels that marks the current end of my transportation network
So this is where I am at the moment. Will be fun to see how my vines grows during the night until tomorrow. If they turn out good, I might just commence on this.

Current standing after the christmas season

So yeah, I have been having a break in the recent days due to the Christmas holidays. I have been spending my time with my family, rather than playing Minecraft, so this is why I have not posted any updates recently.

Although I have not played Minecraft enough in the recent days to be able to make a proper progress post, I still wanted to post about my current standing in my survival world. It turns out I may have taken way more over my head than I can cope with, because at the current moment I am officially broke. I have been able to do something that for over a year have seemed impossible. I have run out of glass. Over the course of the past year, I have been continously stockpiling my glass reserves, but with all my new builds requiring a ton of glass, I have not been able to keep up the production, and with my newest greenhouse, I spent the last blocks of glass that I had available in my stockpile. I still have an emergency reserve over at my major tree farm, but these reserves are meant for my tree farm when the day comes to build the glass cube around, and as such I will not take any glass from here to restock at my primary base.

My shortage of glass means I will not be able to continue my builds until I can find more sand to melt. I have a huge supply of sand readily available, and out of sight, underneath my giant tree farm. The only problem is to transport it all from the quarry, to my smeltery. A oneway trip which takes around 8minutes to complete. So yeah, I have a lot of work to do.

I will continue making progress on my builds that does not require glass at the moment, and will also finish the frame work of my new observation tower for my town. So do not worry, there will be more updates coming up as I move along.

I will update with screenshots when I find myself ready to show off my progress.

I hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas season, and wish you all a happy new year.

Progress on my new observation deck, and three years anniversary of Zurvival2-1

Hi everyone

Today, I have finally been able to make quite decent progress in my survival world. My primary focus today, have been getting my observation deck up and running. I have no added the birch wood design to the column, and are working on getting the frame for the deck finished. I have not decided on a design as of yet, but seeing how this build will mark the three year anniversary of my survival world, I am planning on making it big; very big. And also try to incorporate a much more detailed design than what I would normally do. I am not sure yet what I will do though with the design, but I am hoping to have the observation deck finished over the course of tomorrow, or as soon as possible afterwards if I fail to get it done. It is quite weird to think about though, that tomorrow, my world have been actively expanding for three whole years. And I still have lots of plans for my world. After my observation deck comes the first roads, followed by the first suburban area. It will be fun. But for now, I will stick to getting my observation deck finished.

View from my secondary observatory deck over the progress of my new observation deck

Night time view over my most recent progress on my new observation deck, as seen from my primary observatory

Day time view over my progress from my primary observatory deck. The frame is starting to take shape, and over the course of tomorrow, I will decide upon a design for the finished deck

And that is where I am now. I have used up all my dark oak wood, so I will have to make a resupply run before I can do anything with my observatory deck.

I will post updates as I move along.

Going away for a few days

Hi everyone!

So yes, like the title of this post says, I am going away for a few days now. I left for my grandmas place yesterday, and thus I wont have access to my survival world for the upcoming two days. I will be back around Sunday, and will probably be able to make more progress on my new tree farm at that point.

I am however happy to say that before I left yesterday I was able to make quite some progress with my resources. I was able to harvest three full chests worth of birch wood from my newest addition to my tree farm, and thus I now have the materials necessary to finally be able to finish my observation deck in my new village. From that point onwards, it will only be a matter of constructing the first infrastructure, from which I can finally start building the first couple of houses. I can already now reveal that this will not be anything fancy or overly decorated stuff. I find builds like that to be exaggarated and highly unrealistic. Especially those who build medieval houses, and go all over the moon with the decorations. Now if you'd ever travelled to cities in Norway where we have preserved most of the medieval houses, you would notice one very important detail that separates the houses here from what alot of people like to build in Minecraft: the real medieval houses tends to be very simplistic, and built from the cheapest materials available. Very few, to no-one, were able to afford anything overly fancy. So that's where I am will take my inspiration from. My village will be made pretty simplistic, and with few details compared to many other builds we may see out there on the interne. Its just realistic to make a medieval house, or even a modern house for that matter, overly fancy and decorative. Sure, some of the more wealthy citizens both in modern and medieval cities are able to build houses with impressive and mind-blowing details, but those details tends to be too small for me to be able to recreate in Minecraft.

So thats my current plan. Simple and cheap. The only thing that will really stand out in terms of details, will be my observation deck, and even that will be relatively simple compared to others. It will be fun though. I am hoping I will be able to top off my observation deck within the next two weeks, and than start constructing my first houses around Christmas and new years eve.

Oh and yeah, third anniversary coming up on  December 17th. I am trying to find something to build to celebrate the third anniversary. For the past two anniversaries, I have not really made any efforts to mark the day, so its about high time I do so on the third anniversary.

See you guys around in three days than

Progress on sugar cane farm and new tree farm

 Hi everyone!

Yes it's been a while since I last posted an update here. I have been very busy recently, and thus I have not had the time to even play Minecraft, and as such I have not had anything to post about. But I was able to finally go back into the game during the weekend, and make some pretty good progress in my world. My current focus have been to complete my sugar cane farm, which is now completed and ready to be used for the production of sugar cane. At the moment, I have also been able to finish my tree farm up to the point where I have the frame ready, and all the slots where I will one day cultivate the trees have been fully set up. So all I need to do now to complete my tree farm, will be to cover it in glass, which hopefully will not take too much time. At the moment though, I am also considering to just cultivate a few trees and get enough wood to finish my new observation tower, but time will tell what I decide to do in the end.
My sugar cane farm finished and ready for use. I have already cultivated the sugar cane here

My mushroom farm had to go in order to give room for my expanded tree farm

Halfway through the construction of the base of my tree farm

The base of my tree farm finished and ready for use

The frame for my tree farm finished and viewed from a distance. All that remains to be done now, is to cover the thing in glass
I will post more when I have made more progress in my survival world

Progress

Hi everyone

Today, I have been focusing primarily on continuing my work on my new sugar cane farm. I am still waiting with my village until I can finish an expansion on my tree farm, and instead chose to focus on continuing my sugar cane farm first. Not too much progress today though, as I have been very busy. But today I got the farm ready for cultivation, so all that I need to do now before it is ready, will be to plant my sugar canes, and encase the thing in glass. So it's moving along pretty good. Though I am hoping to be able to continue my work on my village soon, but for that I still need my tree farm, so that will be my next priority after finishing this farm.

My current progress on my sugar cane farm. The water has been placed down, and covered with stone slabs to act as walkways. At the moment, the only thing that is lacking here, is the addition of the glass frame for the farm, as well as the sugar canes themselves, which shall be the next step in my project.

Current progress on my new village

Finally I am back from my inactivity. Hopefully I will be able to keep up a higher degree of activity and progress than I have been having recently. Been way too busy with school and stuff to even think about playing Minecraft, but today I was finally able to find time to spare for the game. So here's today's progress.

I was originally planning and hoping to be able to finish my new observation deck first before doing anything else in my newly established village, but I quickly reconsidered and the made the decision to finish the basic infrastructure first, before starting to expand. Because when my observation deck is finished, everything would be read to commence on constructing the first few houses for my village. So I decided to halt progress on my observatory, and instead focus on getting the first infrastructure ready. And for me, infrastructure equals to constructing the first roads for the village. I decided to recycle and slightly change the designs I have been using on my previous roads, for this new one, and it turned out pretty good in my opinion. The only thing that annoys me a bit, is that my new design collided with an already existing design that was being constructed from long ago. So what I had to do, was to implement my new design. I do not destroy or remove my old builds unless it is absolutely necessary, so what I ended up doing was to just expand upon the old design with my new one, and basically mending the two together. Thankfully my old design was not too far into its construction, meaning it did not turn into the biggest problem I have ever faced.
The design I ended up with for my current project. Notice the base of my observation deck which is visible on the right hand side of the screenshot. In the background, a small Sugar Cane farm I am working on can be seen

Second view of my new road
Looking over my progress from high above in my primary observation deck. I was originally intending to take this screenshot from a lower altitude, but had to go higher up because of obstructions blocking my view
As we can see from my screenshots, all that I really lack at the moment, is to get my street lights up and running, which I will have to do later. I am also currently experimenting with using quartz slabs, rather than the stone slabs I normally use for the walkways. I am hoping that I will be able to continue construction of my new observation deck soon, but with my current status, I will primarily focus my attention on finishing this new walkway, and than I will probably add an expansion to my tree farm. Because with my current consumption of birch wood for the planned village, my tree farm has been absolutely driven to its maximum capacity, and that capacity is not even close to providing me with the wood I need in the future. And also I'm currently working on a sugar cane farm as a side project, to provide me with paper I can trade for emeralds, which will provide me with a steady source of glowstone, which I will use in plentiful when the time comes to constructing the first few houses.

I will try to keep up my progress, but with my current life situation, I cannot make any promises.

Back from the dead...

Yeah I have not been all too good at keeping my blog updated. I have been very busy recently, and thus I have not had any time to spare to play Minecraft. As a matter of fact, I have barely even touched a game at all for the past two weeks. I have been spending most of my time preparing for a major test I am due for in school tomorrow, which is why I have not been able to update my blog. But today I was finally able to find time to spare for my blog, and thus I will now go back to publishing at least one post for now. And than I will try to keep myself active enough to keep playing Minecraft so that I can post more posts here.

Studies studies...

Yeah I have not been too good at updating my blog here in the past two months. I am currently very busy with my studies, and thus I have not been able to invest any time into playing Minecraft. I am however intending on firing up the game today, and make more progress on my current projects, so more posts should be on their way. My primary goal for now, is to connect my jungle base to my transportation network, so that I may enjoy the most recent updates in Minecraft. I still have left to find a parrot or any of the other new features that has come out in the past three months. So it will be fun. And hopefully I will be able to post more than I have done up until now. But I will have to see what I can do about that, because I am very busy with my studies, so I will have to do take it as it comes as I move along.

The foundations for a new project

The title pretty much says what this post is all about. I have decided to try out a new project. This time, I am planning to build a city next to my primary base. Now, a city is something I have always wanted to build in Minecraft. There have just been one tiny little problem: until recently, I have had no clue how to build house properly. Most of my time have been focused primarily on resource generation, and/or more imaginative builds. The closest thing I comes to actually building a house, was back when I built my longhouse, which ended up being reverted into my new sheep farm. But still, I did not even bother to make a proper design for it, and thus it is very basic, and not as good as I wanted it to be to begin with. But I chose a very poor building site, as I built it right in between already existing buildings, meaning that I did not have the room to experiment that I would wanna have. I was very lucky though with the height of the long house, as it just barely ended up fitting underneath my extensive base. Which is good, because it would have been very annoying having to abandoned this build. But thankfully, I was able to at least bring my long house up to the point where it could begin to serve a purpose as my sheep farm.

But enough talking about the past. Let`s focus on the present. After a bit of back and forth, I decided to build my new project on the southern side of my primary base, behind my tree farm. In the past, I have tried to establish a city here, but I abandoned the build, due to my attention being turned towards more critical builds. I have gotten a basic idea of how I want things to turn out here. But do not expect me to waste time on building surrealistic houses. My building style is very simple, and I will not waste time on building houses that looks absolutely out of our world. I intend on building houses that looks realistic, yet they still have that hint of Minecraft in them. This means that I will not spend all too much time into building those extravagant houses you see around the internet that have been built in Minecraft. I will primarily take inspiration from my own country, where houses are built in a primarily simple manner. You will rarely see houses with extravagant decorations, and glowing lamps all over the place. Some people will sometimes decorate their house with cheap lighting, but this is mainly restricted to the christmas season.

With the clearing of my style out of the way, here`s my current progress. As with many other of my builds, the first building to be put down, will be an observation deck. This building will not only serve as a point of reference for future progression screenshots, but it will also serve as the point of start when one are to access the city, as the primary walkway passes by it. I have already built two houses, to try and get comfortable around this new type of builds in my world, and they turned out quite nicely. Though these houses are very basic and are only on the testing stages, they will give an idea of the kind of style one can come to expect in my city. That, and the fact that I will provide all houses with smaller walkways. Because over in my country, having a road you can drive on where you live, is starting to become a luxury a lot of people have to live without. A lot of people do not even have a parking space, and can only dream about having a garage. This means that most, if not all, houses, will be built without a garage.

Laying the foundations for the first house I built, to try out my skills on building houses. You can also see the technique I have adopted for building houses to get the best results, which is to simply build the house in 3*3 cells.

Looking at the first house from a distance. To the left, you can see one of my older attempts at getting a city started. You can see the size difference, and the lack of the technique I have adopted at the moment.

A closer look at the first house as seen from above. This one turned into sorts of a pyramid shape, but that`s fine, because to me, it is more important to have fun while building something, rather than to focus entirely on the final result, and its size.

Looking at the house from ground level. As you can see here, messed up the design a bit there, but its not too much. And this is what we learn from after all :).

A second house under construction. This one is significantly bigger than the first one, and also features a more realistic look. You cannot see it from here, but it have a walkway that leads into the main parts of the house. It turned out way too small for my liking, but it`s a start.

Looking at my two houses from where I have laid down the foundations for a new observation deck. You can see the size difference here, and if you look  closely, I got the design right this time on my second attempt.

The foundations for my new observation deck. The blocks you can see in the foreground are markers I have put down, for where the walkway will be set up.

Looking at the foundations for the new observation deck at a slight distance.

Looking at my current progress, with the new observation deck foundation, from my primary observation deck. You can also see here the clearing I have made in the forest in preparation for future progress.

There are plenty of work still to be done though, so I will just have to get down to it. Updates will come as progress is made.

Walkway progress

Well, that was so much for keeping updates going. There have not really been too much to report on though on my part in my survival world. In the recent days, I have mainly been focusing my attention on getting my newest addition to my walkway network, completed. And I am happy to say, that after a lot of pondering on the design, I have now completed it. And if I may say so myself, I think it turned out quite nicely. The only thing that annoys me a bit is the fact that my walkway had to be incorporated into my old roller coaster build (which is not included in the screenshot, because I used my roller coaster as a base for my photoshoot). But it is a very minor problem. A more annoying problem, was just clearing out the bits of the forest that would get in the way of my project. But I got it done, so I am quite happy with how it turned out. This walkway connects my new EXP farm to my base. I am planning on also making an extension to my minecart network, so that I can travel uninterrupted between my EXP farm and my base, without the need to walk. You may ask why I built my walkway to begin with if this have been my plan all along, but even if I do not use the walkway, it still serves a display purpose. And the fact that I will probably use it`s design later. But at the moment my minecart network is still very far away from being connected to my EXP farm, though I do have a station at my roller coaster build, which is located a few seconds walking away from my EXP farm. I will post more screenshots from these builds as I move along, but for now, I will focus on my newest walkway. I ended up with a classic design. Classic, as in that I developed the design from my older designs, that I used on my original walkways, when I established the network.

I have not really been able to get down as much progress in my world as I would like to get, but I have finished my walkway at the very least. I am very busy on the side, so I am not able to focus as much time into Minecraft as I would prefer to do, but that`s just how life is.

Pictures and screenshots still speaks much more than a thousand words, so I will include some screenshots here. Some are old, and some are new. Butt they show what I am working on.

A screenshot from early August 2015, which shows the early stages of my walkway network. In this screenshot, we can see my old transportation network in the middle, with the walkway with a lighter tone of stone crossing it. At this stage, I was experimenting with the redstone, as I had no clue how to use redstone back in the days shown here. The main challenge I faced at this stage, was how to supply my redstone lamps with power to light them.

A couple of days later, after the progress shown in the screenshot above. At this point, my modern and current design for my walkways, began to take shape. I made the primary part of the walkway three blocks wide, made up of stone slabs, framed by a row of stone on each side. And than, just for added details, I decided to put one row of spruce wood, and then one row of stone bricks, on each side of my walkway. And the solution to the problem with my redstone lamps turned out to be as simple as just adding a row of stone slabs on level with my redstone lamps. These two rows serves exactly the same purpose as our powerlines in the real world; they support the power cables, which supplies my redstone lamps with the redstone power they need to light up. This design also means that I can power my redstone lights on and off at will. Though very stable in the early stages, later updates, especially 1.9, led to many of my circuits to fail. Thus, my once fail-proof design have become a bit rusty, but thankfully, this part of my network have not suffered too much. It is a different story in another part of my world, where half my design have just simply vanished. That design was intended to incorporate this exact design seen here, only with a birch roof above, so that I could use the walkways during thunder storms without risking getting hit by the lightning. I am planning on fixing this design though in the nearest future, so we will see more updates coming from this.

My most recent walkway, which is what I have been building on for the past days when I have had the time to spare to do so besides my studies. In this decide, I decided to go for much more simple and cost-effective design. As you can see, I chose to cut out the flower pots that could be seen in the screenshot further above here. And I also chose to cut out the electricity system, which I had put so much attention into in the earlier designs. For the design here, I chose to simply stick with the standard glowstone, on the side of which I put open trap doors. And than it is only a matter of putting down a three block wide walkway, neatly framed by stone blocks, birch wood, spruce wood, and finally stone bricks. One major improvement I made in this design, is that the design seen here, is much cleaner, and a lot more organised. Plus the fact that I chose different materials, so that it would stand out much better. I originally intended for dark oak in the place of spruce wood, but eventually ended up with spruce wood, because dark oak gave too much contrast with the birch wood. As far as the expansion to my minecart system goes, I am not entirely sure what I wanna do about it, but it will be a bit of time until I can get to it, as I have a lot of stuff to do first.

If you look closely on the upper right hand side of the screenshot, you can just barely notice my old birch wood roof design I made for my walkway. Originally I planned for it to cover the entirety of my walkway network, but after updating 1.9, and seeing how blocks vanished, the design was scrapped to the advantage of expanding my minecart railtrack to a two tracked network.

So that`s where I am currently standing.

I will keep posting updates as I go along. Or so I hope :P.

Tree Farm Progress

So, it`s been quite some time since I last wrote about my tree farm on my blog here.

So, since I last wrote about my tree farm, I have made quite some substantial progress. I am currently in the works of clearing the lands where my tree farm will one day come, and I have also put a great deal of effort into expanding upon it`s area of influence. With "influence", I am referring to the areas which have been prepared for the trees. I have two layers that I am building in. First there`s a layer which is completely flat. This layer is what I have been mainly focusing on lately, as I need to flatten out the lands in order to make room for my tree farm. When the grounds have been cleared and flattened, the next layer is the layer which defines my walkways, and that also marks out where the trees will one day be planted and grown. The tree farm stalled for quite some time, while I kept working on expanding my transportation network. But now, I have returned my focus to finishing my tree farm. I have no timetable for when I will be able to do so, but I am working as hard as I can, to achieve that goal. The tree farm has been under construction for almost three years now, so finishing it will be quite a victory for me. Plus the fact that it will revolutionize my survival world, in that I will gain a primary tree farm, where I can grow and harvest an seemingly endless supply of trees.

There are still lots of work to be done on the farm, but I am getting there, slowly but surely. My main focus now, is to clear the lands, and to finish off my walkways, as well as marking out where the trees will one day come. Besides that, I have also tried to equip my tree farm with its own independent smelting oven, but my attempt at building an automatic one, has turned out as a failure. I am therefor in the works of connecting my tree farm with my primary base through a goods transportation network, which will make it possible for me to transport resources between the two with ease.

Until next time though, this is my current progress.

My current tree farm progress. Take note of the tall spruce trees visible in the background. My game is running at 30chunks render distance, and I cannot see the other side of the farm. That`s how massive this thing is starting to become. At the right side of the screenshot, you can see my current progress on flattening the lands, mainly building a flat surface above the water, as building without a flat base can be rather challenging and inefficient.

Current progress and project: goods transportation expansion hub

So, finally getting myself into posting an update on my current progress in my survival world.

Now those of you have been following me here on my blog, and on my profile on G+, may already know that I take a great deal of pride in my transportation network. The network spans more than 5000blocks at the moment, and is double filed, meaning that it`s not just a simple and cheap network, this is an actual network. Stretching from my primary base, to my tree farm, and from my tree farm, it will one day connect to my jungle base as well. Though I have chosen to reduce it`s upkeep for the last stretch, most of it is made up of an intricate design I made for it, which was designed to make room for an expansion which I was planning to add in the future. And today, that expansion, is coming together. The expansion is, of course, to expand my transportation network with two additional lanes, which will enable me to transport resources. At the moment, I rely heavily on my ender chests, as well as my empty inventory, to carry my resources from A to B. Easy to say, it can become pretty boring and time consuming, to run back and forth between my base and my projects, whenever I need to transport resources. And that`s where my goods transportation expansion hub comes into play. It adds two more lanes to my transportation network, and makes it possible for me to efficiently transport two minecarts with chests, alongside me, while riding the network. At the moment, I have been mainly focusing on getting my starting hub up and running. The starting hub is located at my primary base, next to my secondary observation deck. In order to simplify the collection of resources, the hub is equipped with hoppers, that will automatically transport resources down to my storage facilities.

There are a few challenges though that I need to overcome. The most important one is the fact that because of my original design for my transportation network back when I started expanding to a two laned network, adding the goods transportation expansion, just wont do sideways. This means that I will have to build in two levels, one for my own transportation, above which I have the lanes which transports my resources. So far, I have not even gotten halfway to my tree farm, which will be the first target on my list to connect to my primary base, but its getting there eventually. Another challenge is also to supply this project with enough gold to make it to the tree farm. I have quite an extensive gold farm, but even with my stockpiles, I will still need a whole load of gold to get there.

But thirdly, and not least, my world is already so crammed full of builds, that just buiding my transportation hub, faced me with my challenges. Not only did I cover the area immediately surrounding my primary base with trees back in the day, the area is also so crammed that making a proper design for my train station, just will not be possible at the current moment. Fun fact though, is that my storage facility started out as a train station. Ah its kind of ironic now that I come to think about it... Oh well, one thing at a time. I was able to fit the transportation hub though, and thats all that matters. It may look a bit messy, but thats my style, so I`m happy with it. Though I will probably go ahead one day, and add some more detailing, but I wont do it anyday soon though.

Planning out where to place the transportation hub. My old furnaces here have not been used in years, so I eventually decided to remove them, tear down this wall here, and place the hub outside my base here. My storage facility is located to the left here, so its just a small walk for me to store my resources. Plus, to the right, I got my automated oven, which means I will have an easy time smelting and crafting.

Tearing down the wall where I have decided to place the expansion hub. These walls are the original walls I placed down on my first day in Minecraft back late 2014, so this is quite a special moment, as my base remains virtually untouched on this side.

The hub is completed, and the hoppers are in place. There are four chests here, plus the hoppers, meaning I can easily stockpile my resources, before moving them on to be stored in my storage facility.

After a bit of debate with myself on where to place the tracks for my transportation hub, I chose to add an expansion to my original plan, and have the tracks be lowered down to ground level. This means that I can load my minecarts and send them away, without the need to climb my new hub. The tracks that will come here, will be placed so that one will be sent up the hub, and placed onto my transportation network there. The network from that point onwards remains unchanged, apart from the added tracks.
Due to my original design here when I expanded to a two laned network, I am forced to building up in the height. I could add the new tracks on the sides, but it will be a slow, and very painful process, to do so. Therefore I chose to do it the easiest way.

The new tracks as seen from above, on top of my primary base. Parts of my transportation network can be seen to the right, underneath the water course.

Another angle of the new tracks. My secondary observatory acts as the foundation for my new tracks, from ground level, up to the new hub. The new hub can slightly be seen here, on top of my transportation network, and next to my secondary observatory.

My most recent changes as seen from afar, from my primary observation deck. One can clearly see my secondary observatory, as well as my new hub, to the right of the observatory.

There are still a whole load of stuff to be done though before I can call it a success, so I will just have to get back to it tomorrow, and continue to expand my new expansion to my transportation network.

Yes I am still playing the game...

Although I have not been able to keep up the level of activity on my blog here as I originally hoped I would be able to do. I am still active though, so there will come updates in the future, it`s going very slowly. Mainly because I got a lot of stuff to do besides playing Minecraft, and recently I have been focusing my attention on more important stuff. But don`t you worry, there will be more progress coming along in the upcoming month or so. Currently working on my tree farm, to clear out more land, so I have my hands busy at the moment. And also I am expanding my transportation network, but I will talk more about this later, as I make more progress.

Launching for the first time in over a month.

Well yeah, the title pretty much explains it all. I have been busy with things on my side here so I have not been able to play Minecraft for the past month or so. But thats just how it is gonna have to be, we play, we go off, we play some more, rinse and repeat.

But although I have not been able to play the game for the past month, it does not mean I have not been thinking about what I wanna build in my survival world in the nearest of future. I am currently planning on some major expansions to my world. The first part will be a metroway I am currently constructing in my world. I had not intention of building one, but a couple of weeks back I attended the KISSworld 2017 in Oslo, and one look at the metroways was enough to convince me that I need to construct at least a small line of metroway in my world. So, I am currently planning on adding on top of my already existing transportation lines, there being two of them at the current moment, one being completed and the other being still under construction after I have been halting its expansion for three months now.

As if having to establish a metroway is not enough, I still have left to finish my already existing transportation network, which consists of my tubed railway placed at the height level 100, and my primary transportation network. My primary network was finished a long time ago in the area surrounding my primary base, but I am planning on building a whole route for it, as my current route is outdated and does not provide me with the best transportation coverage for my world. It also lacks freight lines, which in the future would significantly improve my progress on my builds which are located far away from my primary base. I did try to expand upon my already existing lines, but this turned out to be too much of an effort as the existing line is way too long to expand, and also it's design makes it an excruciatingly long, boring process, of expanding upon it. So, a brand new transportation line will have to be established for this. I am still working on making a design for this.

Aside from building major expansions to my transportation network, I am also planning on some other, and more extensive builds as well. I am not entirely sure exactly what I wanna build, but a second major tree farm, with added extras such as a melon farm, sugar cane farm, and a small cactus farm, is just one of my plans.

Now that I am back in the game, it will be interesting to see how my world develops. I will keep my blog updated as I go along.

Just because I am stubborn...

Never posting another blog post at 1A.M ever again xD. Yeah, that last post i made could've been much better. Oh well, that's what I get for posting my blog post at 1A.M when I am tired.

So yeah, not gonna do that again.

Digging Under The Surface

The title should explain what I have been doing today and than some more. Yes, I have been focusing my attention primarily underground in my survival world today rather than continuing my transportation system. Getting tired of expanding the same build now, so I have left my transportation system be for the time being. I will continue that project later on, but for now I am focusing my attention on my underground mines which I have been carving out underneath my primary base.

Next to my tree farm, my mines are probably the biggest build I have in my survival world, though they were originall unintentional. Back when I first started playing Minecraft, I had no idea what I was doing, so what I did was I started hollowing out the mountain immediately close to where I established my first base (Which would go on to become my primary base of operation, which is still being used to this day). During the first 2weeks I harvested enough cobblestone to fill up five large chests, which i would later use to construct many of my first builds, though 90% of the cobblestone was invested directly into my tree farm, which unfortunately still remains to be completed. But yeah, things like that can happen sometimes. But hollowing out five chests of cobblestone from the same mine does leave quite some substantial space underneath my base, which would go on to make up the foundation for what is today my secondary mine, and also my biggest one. It is very difficult to comprehend the size of my mine as it stretches out for quite a bit, but I have in recent times started to dig my way down to LVL 11 in altitude. Progress has been slow due to other projects, but now I am focusing my attention here once again. My goal with this build is to make a massive hole in the ground, which I may one day expose to the light of day and put a massive glass cube on top of, though this latter part is highly unlikely as I do not have the required resources.

So yeah. Made some progress on my mine today. Not much else to post about though, other than some progress on my tree farm which I am starting to get really tired off :P.

The hole I am working on digging out in my mine. It is not that big at the moment, but it will get bigger as I make more progress here. Currently working on resupplying my stock levels with cobblestone, andesite, diorite, and granite.

Progress I have made on my tree farm today. Most of the cobble I harvest from my mines, end up here as the flooring for my tree farm.

I will continue to progress on my projects, and will post more updates as I go along so please do keep tuned for more :).

Any feedback is very welcome.

Tad late with the updates, and my current build progress

So yeah, the title says it, I have not been all too good at keeping my blog here up to date with my current build. I have been super busy with various stuff, and making progress in my world is one of those things that I spend my time on at the moment. I am off for the easter, so Minecraft is just about the only game I am able to invest time into. Which is not too much of a problem, as I am able to progress quite nicely with my world now that GTA does not distract my attention from my world like it would ordinarily do. Which is rather good as well, considering the current situation in GTA online, but ah that's just a story for another time.

So yeah, my survival world. I have been making some pretty good and extensive progress in the most recent days. Most noticable of which would be my transportation system, which is constantly expanding and reaching ever further than it has ever done before. I am starting to feel that I may be investing a bit too much time and resources into this project as it is starting to get ridicilously long and extensive now, but I have no plans to stop my progress on it just yet. And all I have been doing is, you know, mixing things up, making a new design for my transportation network, and just having fun building it as I have been going along. I was also able to figure out a means of properly farming glowstone without having to spend ages in the Nether, so glowstone have become a pretty significant part of my progress, especially with my most recent, major, station, which I decided to put down just next to my tree farm where the transportation network leaves the farm and enters the AMPLIFIED sectors that I generated way back in 2015. Because yes, my world was transformed from a default world into an AMPLIFIED world. I did transform it again into a costum world, but I have now decided to transform it back into an AMPLIFIED world, so AMPLIFIED for the win indeed.

My most recent design for a primary station alongside my transportation network. My tree farm is situated further up in the screenshot, but due to low performance I had to turn down my render distance, and thus my tree farm is not visible in this screenshot.
View over a newly constructed portion of my transportation system. This screenshot is kind of outdated, as this has since been completed and finalized.

View over my transportation network from my new primary station. My tree farm visible to the right side of the screenshot.

As far as progress elsewhere goes, I have also been investing quite a bit of time and resources to my secondary transportation network in the Nether which connects my survival world together through a more time efficient network. Like i said above, glowstone is no longer a resource which I have to spare for special occassions, and thus I kind of got carried away while making my network more hollow and open, and thus glowstone got used a LOT.

Glowstone added to my nether network

Other than this there have not really been too much progress in my survival world in the recent days. I am working on the same, boring, laborious tasks day in, day out. Kind of. Other than the progress that are visible on the surface in my world, I have been spending a lot of time underground, preparing for future builds. I got some great plans for my survival world, so I am stockpiling in preparations for them all. My primary goal though will be to stockpile enough glass so that when the day comes for me to enclose my tree farm, I will have enough glass to do so. At the moment, my tree farm is at a standstill as I have not been working on the darn thing for weeks, if not even months now, but I will resume work on the farm soon enough, and when the day comes for me to enclose it, it will only be a good thing if I am able to stockpile enough glass to finish the job in one swift motion.

So yeah. That is where I am currently standing at. Not much progress being aside from my transportation networks getting some much needed renovations and expansions. I am however planning for changes in the future to my survival world which will bring on some variations, so stay tuned for more updates as I go along :).

And remember: if you got anything to say, whether it be positive or negative feedback, comments are allways welcome :).

Possible complications coming along with the new snapshots

So yeah. The title of this post pretty much explains it all what I am about to discuss here. So it seems that my world has not taken the most recent snapshots released to the game all too kindly to say the least. I've been facing a whole host of challenges and difficulties in my world which has arisen after I have updated to the most recent snapshots. And yes, I can already hear you saying that this is what happens when I update my world with experimental snapshots. Because as stated by Mojang, they can corrupt my world, and as we can remember from videos made by youtubers such as GoodTimesWithScar who have played the game since Minecraft was first released, worlds can and will experience difficulties when faced with new snapshots. But still, some of these difficulties are rather annoying and not really easy to understand. The main issue I have been having with the most recent snapshots in my world these days is the fact that for one blocks have disappeared from some of my builds. Granted this could just be a side affect of updating with snapshots, as the same thing has happened before, but with the snapshots now this problem has been much bigger and more rife than it has been with snapshots in the past. And it is not cosmetic blocks that are affected. Redstone seems to be affected by the snapshot as well. Because I have experienced redstone dust that keeps signalling a redstone signal, even minutes after the source of the signal has been cut. The most notable example is the redstone lamps that can be seen in the screenshot below. These redstone lamps keep lighting up, even though I have deactivated the switch that supplies them with the redstone power they need to operate. But for what the gods know, this could just be a mistake on my side, because to be honest, I have no longer any control over my electricity system anylonger because of how much time has passed since I started building it, so there could be loops in the system that keeps sending the signal in circles, which again is transferred to the redstone lamps. I'm not gonna bother trying to figure out what is causing this, but it is still annoying, as I HATE seeing my builds getting destroyed because of something as simple as an update.

A design for a roof over my walkway which has been destroyed because of my world being upgraded to the most recent snapshot.
But broken blocks I can handle. They can be replaced and broken builds can be repaired manually when I get the time and the will to do so. The main problem I have about the most recent snapshot is that it has apparently affected the breeding habats of villagers, to the point where the villagers in my iron farm is no longer breeding properly. I am not sure what could be causing this though, so I will have to do some more research into the matters before I can draw any conclusions as to what is causing this. I will update on my blog as soon as I find something about this. At the moment though, I spend most of my time ingame extending my transportation system ever further into my remaining AMPLIFIED sectors, so I have not really been able to check out what could be causing my villagers to stop breeding. The only real way to find out if it is just something temporary or something more serious, is to simply leave the PC running overnight with the villagers and their chunks loaded. Which I will probably end up doing.

I will post more updates when I have found out more about this subject.

So apparently they released parrots into the game...

Yes. It seems like Mojang have finally gone ahead and added some color to Minecraft. About time as well if you ask me, because it was getting rather boring to travel on my transportation network without anything but ocelots and the occassional pig to look at. But yeah, parrots in Minecraft, how shiny that will be. I have not actually loaded the game yet with Parrots in it because my world have been pretty much dormant and inactive for the past couple of days as I have been having a break from all video games. But yeah, it seems like parrots can only spawn in jungle biomes, fair enough, so I will probably make a quick visit to my old jungle base in the upcoming hours or days to pay a visit. Will be fun to see the jungle with an added bit of color. That is, if there are any colors. It seems like they have only relased the gray-yellow parrot for the time being judging by the snapshot release notes, but it is better then nothing that is for sure. Now all we have to do wait and see is if they make it so that ocelots will begin to start hunting for parrots, though that may be a bit too much for Minecraft I am sure.

But yeah. Will be fun to explore and see whether or not parrots makes any difference in the jungle biome. I am really hoping they will change my mind on connecting my jungle biome to my new transportation network, because it does look rather dark for the jungle biomes at the moment as I am seriously considering to bypass my jungle base. But if I were to connect it I would have to come up with a solution to my current expansion plans, as turning the whole thing around, connect it the jungle base, and then turn it around again and go all the way back, won't be an option.

For now though, I got my hands full with my most recent builds, which I will post updates about on this blog as I go along. Currently working on building a new walkway, which in the future will connect several new and updated greenhouses and farms to my base. My old farmlands is rather outdated as they are the ones I built back in early 2015, so it is only about time I am getting around to update my world with more updated designs and stuff like that. It will be fun indeed.

Because someone asked about it...

Yeah, so posts I post on this blog will primarily be about my own, single player world. Unless I specify otherwise, I won't write about any servers just yet. Thus please don't do anything you would not normally do on a server because of what I write here. Specifically the post about abandoned builds.

Abandoned builds: The Forgotten side of Minecraft

Please note : this post have nothing to do with any servers. I'm basing this post on my own private world, which is a single player world.

SO. Abandoned builds. I got them, you got them. Pretty much everyone who have ever played Minecraft for more than five minutes have them. Abandoned builds are basically these plans we make that just never see the light of day. Whether it be that you abandon them long before you even start laying out the ground plan in your survival/creative world, or you lay out the floor plan, or even start building the build, but than just choose to abandon it. Abandoned builds is probably one of the most forgotten parts about Minecraft. Not many players pay their abandoned builds any attention, and it is kind of a shame because quite often, at least for those who spend a lot of time in Minecraft in the same world, abandoned builds is what started the world to begin with. It may be their original base which they have since abandoned in favor of something much more suited for an experienced player, or it could be a farm or a generator that they built but have since opted to abandon for whatever reason. Some players even have entire worlds they have abandoned. I would be lying if I were to say that I got no worlds that I have abandoned, because I got a whole bunch of worlds I used to practice my skills in Minecraft before I moved from Creative to Survival mode. Some of these worlds no longer even exists, because I got no known backups of them anymore. Whilst others, such as my Demo World which was the first world I ever started in Minecraft, are primarily only ever used when I wanna have a look back at my oldest of the old building styles.

In this post, I wanna highlight this forgotten side of Minecraft, and blow the dust from some of the oldest and most forgotten builds I have built myself at some point over the course of my Minecraft career. Some of these builds used to be the emerald in my world. The builds I would show to friends and fellow players whenever I wanted to showcase my skills in Minecraft. Most of these builds are today forgotten all about, and no longer receive any attention in terms of extensions or repairs.

1. The Pillars of Fire

Perhaps the oldest abandoned build on my list, is the Pillars of Fire. The Pillars of Fire was an experimental build I built back in late 2014, when my world was relatively young and unexplored. It's primary purpose was for me to practice and discover exactly how lava behaved when exposed to different type of fountains and whether I could use lava as an improvised source of light. The build was a catastrophic failure however, as back when I built this build I was very inexperienced with Minecraft, and had no clue as to what armor or fire protection was. The first accident was me burning down a wooden house I had built on site to accommodate my tools and resources. Then the first pillar I built burned off a significant portion of the surrounding forest, which was not really too much of a problem but it was still annoying. But the biggest problem about building this build, was the fact that I would frequently catch myself on fire, and quite a lot of resources was burned away as a result of me burning myself to death. After a couple of deaths, I abandoned the build in rage, and swore I would never, ever, EVER, resume construction on the site. A promise I have kept for 2years now, as I have not made any progress on this build since early 2015. This build however is one of the luckier ones, as my transportation line runs straight through it, so it is not as forgotten as some of the other builds on my list.

2. The Original Giant Tree Farm

Now, those who have seen any of my posts in the Minecraft Community on Google+ should know that the very pride in my survival world at the moment is my giant tree farm which have been under construction for more than 2years now. But this tree farm would not even have gotten started, had it not been for me abandoning another tree farm. Because originally, my tree farm was planned to be put a whole lot closer to my base than where it is under construction today. 5minutes in fact of constant travelling separated the two locations when I relocated my farm. The original tree farm though was planned to be 500blocks long, and 300blocks wide. Which is not far from the size my new tree farm have, but this original tree farm was located in a far worse location. Which was the main reason why it eventually got abandoned when I discovered a new location where I could relaunch the project. So today, all that remains is the blocks of dirt and soil I used to measure up the 500blocks that were to become the length of the tree farm. This build was not really abandoned; more like relocated, but the remains of the original plans still stands as an eerie remainder of numerous hours of planning and measuring that in the end proved to be wasted.

The beginning of the vast stretch of dirt and soil that were to become one of the walls of the tree farm. This, along with a few signs, is all that remains on site as a reminder of the abandoned build.

A sign indicating the measured length of the farm up to this point is all that remains to remind players that there is an abandoned build on the site of the original tree farm.
3. The Milky Way

This is perhaps one of the more stupid builds I have undertaken. The idea sounded simple enough, but it turned out to be way too overwhelming. This was during the planning phases of my intercontinental transportation system, which have since been constructed to displace this abandoned build. The plan was as simple as it could get. I would build two lanes of minecart tracks, one going in one direction, with the other track going in the opposite direction, so that the network could support two carts going in the opposite directions. The only problem? I was planning to make the build out of solid quartz. Now for those who are not aware of this, mining for quartz in the nether turned out to be a nightmare. I could spend a full 8hours mining for quartz, and in the end I was only able to build what I will show you on the screenshot below here. Easy to say, I was not impressed by the amount of quartz one can gather over the course of a day. And as much as I could spend my train rides back and forth between my grandma's place over the summer, this was not the kind of build I had any interest in investing time in. So that spelled the end of the Milky Way. 2weeks of hard work and dozens of blocks of quarts went into this thing. Over time I tried to resume the build, by replacing the quartz with the much more easily obtainable Birch Wood Planks, but in the end that too ended up being a waste of my time. Eventually, I decided to build a completely different transportation network, a network which turned into a ground breaking success. And thus, the need for this build was wiped clean from my world, and today the Milky Way sits empty in the middle of the savannah, as an eerie reminder of what can happen when one decides to build something that one does not have the required resources for. The abandoning of this build did however have one positive outcome, in that it lead to the planning and construction of my primary storage facility, which today stores several thousand blocks of various resources.

But despite this, I still have the Milky Way empty, and it still remains one of my costliest and time consuming builds to have been abandoned.

The Milky Way, empty and abandoned.

Parts of the Milky Way where I eventually replaced the Quartz with much cheaper and easier accessible resources. This did still not save my build from being abandoned a few days after this was completed.
4. The Original Zurvival Intercontinental Transportation Network

The main thing that separates this build from the builds above, is the fact that this one was actually completed prior to being abandoned. Also, parts of the build is still being used on a daily basis today. This build here was one of the earliest builds I ever undertook. It connected the various parts of my survival world together, and supported the founding of what my world is today. In it's early days, it was meant for only one track. So only one minecart, going in one direction. But as my skills increased and my craving for better builds grew, the old network did not stand up to my expectations. A brand new network was planned and successfully constructed. As a consequence, the old network was disconnected and abandoned. It still stands though, an everlasting reminder of the good old days. The days when I was a noob and had no clue as to what I was doing.

A significant portion of this build was however lost during the Great Purge of Old Chunks when I converted my world into an AMPLIFIED world, but thats a story for another time.

One of the many stations on the old transportation network

Abandoned parts of the old transportation network

The new and much more modern transportation network that eventually replaced the old transportation network. This one features two tracks, and can thus be used should my world ever see the need for two players to travel in opposite going directions.

And that's it for now. I got more builds coming up, and there are a whole load of stuff still to be done in my survival world, so do stay tuned for more updates :).
