4years of Zurvival 2-1

As the title says, it has officially been four years since I first generated my world Zurvival 2-1. I will write a much more fancy post later on, but I wanted to get this out there that my world is now one year older, and it is still thriving and growing for each passing day. But it's got a nasty birthday, in the form of the most recent snapshot for Minecraft, which has seriously affected my world negatively, and destroyed my iron farm.

My fourth anniversary as a Minecraft player can mark a turning point in my world's history. In the absolute worst case scenario, I can end up getting stuck with 1.13, because it becomes too risky to upgrade any further than that. I can also end up with having to revert to an earlier savefile, lose at least 2days worth of work, and having to revert back to the most recent 1.13 release.

Its not something Im happy about, thats one of the risks I take by loading my world with a snapshot to begin with. Its just a real shame that the world begins to regerenate itself like this. I have literally loaded dozens of snapshots, and never ever have I run into this issue.

I will update my blog here as soon as I know more about the status of my world.

Damage control - this can become ugly

Well this is rather... Unfortunate. I recently updated my world to the most recent of snapshot, and my experiences with this so far has been pretty much only negative. Many of my chunks are generating anew, and the consequence of this is that some of my older builds are getting destroyed. So far I have lost a smaller section of my old transportation network, and perhaps worst of all: my entire gold farm, which I am absolutely dependent on for iron, has been largely destroyed because of this. My old chunks, with all my progress, are gone, and in their place are fresh, new chunks, or a mixture of old and new, cause some of my chunks has gotten a new look right in the middle of them.

I am not sure if this is just a bug that I am alone about experiencing, but I will have to do some damage control tomorrow, and if my world is too damaged, I might be forced into reverting back to one of my backups. Luckily for me, I have been frequent with my backups, but it will a huge loss for me if I lose all my progress on expanding my transportation network. We are talking at least 2days worth of progress down the drain if I choose to revert, and thats not taking into account all my smelting and mining, which in its own is very expensive to recoup.

At the moment theres nothing I can do. I will perform a full damage control tomorrow, and than I will make a decision from what I see. But my iron farm is officially lost, which will seriously hamper my further progress with my world if I so choose to keep my current progress and just keep on pushing through the current snapshot.

I will update here as soon as I know more.

And old screenshot which shows just what is at stake now with my iron farm being destroyed: a constant and reliable source of iron will be lost forever if I choose to continue with my current state.
A part of the section of my transportation network which has been affected by the integrity losses that has come as a result of the most recent snapshot

Looking down at where the entrance to my iron farm once used to be. Where it once used to be a waterway to transport away the iron golems, theres nothing but sand now.

A screenshot showcasing the waterway that used to carry the iron golems to my grinder, stopping abruptly where new world generation meets the old one.

Getting back to business

Yes, I have finally been able to return to Minecraft at full power and with full strength. Obviously, getting back into Minecraft after about 6months can be a challenge, and for me, that is the fact that a number of my farms have stopped functioning properly with the addition of 1.13. It is really annoying, because it has seriously affected my builds and designs. The most notable consequence of this is the fact that I am forced into only using stone and other pickaxe-related blocks, which I can mine with my pickaxe which at the moment is the only tool I have which is not down on the red in terms of durability. I have tried a couple of times already to repair my EXP farm, but so far it has all been only failures. I am planning on completely renovating my EXP farm as a result of this, but at the moment I am in no mood to do so, as I would much rather expand upon my world. But like I said, the consequence of this is that all my new builds are either built from stone, or any other material I can get my hands on that relies on the pickaxe. On builds which I am expanding, I am working on incorporating stone into the design to the best of my capabilities. Its annoying, but thats just how it is at the moment.

Problems aside though, I have finally been able to make significant progress on my projects. I have been able to lay out the foundation for a village I have been planning to build for over a year now, and are currently working on connecting it to my transportation network. The walkway was finished months ago, but I still got left to connect it via my minecart system. I have also built three experimental towers, in which I have tried out new types of towers for my world. Theres nothing fancy going on, because I want everything to be simplistic, but I am satisfied with my current progress, and thats really I for one care about. I am not really a fan of the degree of detail that alot of players demand from their builds, so I prefer to do it the simple way, with few details, yet with a design that I find to look good.

Screenshots though, speaks more than a thousand words, so I am attaching a few screenshots below here.

Hope to see you around sometime later for more updates!

An overview screenshot from my current progress with the towers. This screenshot is kind of outdated though, as it was taken before I began expanding my transportation network out into this region.

Looking up on my transportation network from the ground. Those who have read my blog for a long time may notice that this build has been affected by my EXP farm shutting down, because usually I would birch wood for this thing right here, but without the appropriate tools, I have decided to switch to chiseled stone blocks.

An experimental phase of my village. Nothing fancy really, but its something, and Im happy with it.

A closer look of my experimental towers. These are meant more as design tryouts, rather than anything else.

Finally getting around to getting back to Minecraft

The title pretty much says it all. I have finally been able to get back to Minecraft. I have spent the past hours trying to get my worlds set up so that I may finally get back to my projects. Most notably I need to prepare the foundations for a build to mark the new year. But I must admit, that if my current experience so far after my absence from the game is an indication of what this game has become, I doubt I will bother to play it for too long. I have been forced into deleting my world three times now and replacing it with a backup file. And as much as I am trying to launch it with a snapshot active, loading my world up only to see its entire generation getting messed up, with new landscape generating on top of my old builds, is not a fun thing to see. I am at the moment working on adding my world to my save folder for the fifth time, and this time around I will revert my Minecraft back to 1.13, just in case.

I will try to see if I can get my world up and running once more, and get back to my projects. I got alot of things to catch up on, so should be interesting.

I will update when I know more.
